RCOM ties-up with TTSL and Aircel to offer 3G roaming services to its GSM subscribers
Reliance Communications (RCOM) has entered into inter-circle roaming partnerships with Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) and Aircel to offer uninterrupted 3G roaming services to its customers.
Following the alliance, all existing and new 3G customers of RCOM will be able to access high-speed pan-India 3G services while roaming even in circles where RCOM does not have 3G licences.
For the quarter ended December 31 2013, RCOM had largest 3G subscriber base with 11.1 million 3G users. At present, RCOM offers 3G services in 13 circles - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, Assam, North East, Jammu and Kashmir.
Commenting on the tie-up, Gurdeep Singh, chief executive officer, consumer business, RCOM, said, “We are the first operator to offer 3G national roaming to our customers in partnership with other telecom firms. These alliances will further consolidate RCOM’s position as the leading data operator in the country and will help the company improve its post-paid and corporate customer market share.”
